<h1>Customs Act Amendment: Gold Scrap Conversion Allowed, Revised Wastage Norms for Jewellery, Office Equipment Added to Goods List</h1> The Central Government amended Notification No. 277/90-Cus. under the Customs Act, 1962, concerning imports for export of jewellery. Condition (v) was removed, and a proviso was added allowing gold scrap from manufacturing to be converted into standard gold bars at the Government Mint. Condition (xiv) was revised to allow specific gold and silver wastage percentages during jewellery manufacturing, based on value addition. Wastage norms apply to both gold and platinum jewellery. Additionally, the description of goods was updated to include 'Office equipments, spares and consumables thereof' under serial No. 11.
