of <h1>Central Govt Sets 15% Interest Rate Under Central Excise Act, 1944; Supersedes Previous Notifications</h1> The notification, dated May 13, 2002, issued by the Central Government under the Central Excise Act, 1944, sets the interest rate at fifteen percent per annum. This notification, numbered 18/2002-CE(N.T.), supersedes the previous Notification No. 39/2000-CE(N.T.) dated May 12, 2000. It was later superseded by Notification No. 5/2011 CE(NT) effective from April 1, 2011. The notification was authorized by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, and signed by the Under Secretary to the Government of India.
