<h1>Customs Duty Exemption Expanded for Defence, Police Equipment; New Rules for Certification</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 155/94-Customs to exempt certain equipment and stores used by Defence Services, Police Forces, or for anti-smuggling operations from customs duties. The amendment specifies that for imports by contractors of the Government of India associated with Research and Development Laboratories or Establishments under the Ministry of Defence, the duty exemption certificate must be signed by the Chief of Resources. For Public Sector Undertakings under the Ministry of Defence, the certificate must be signed by the functional Director. Additionally, X-Ray Machines for baggage examination and Radio Communication Test Sets have been added to the exemption list.
