of <h1>Customs Notification No. 50/96 Amended: Certificate Requirement for R&D Imports Eased to Include Officers Above Deputy Secretary Rank</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 50/96-Customs, originally issued on July 23, 1996, under the Customs Act, 1962. The amendment, effective from September 11, 1996, modifies clause (c) to require a certificate from an officer not below the rank of a Deputy Secretary, instead of specifically from a Deputy Secretary, for imports related to Research and Development projects. This change is deemed necessary in the public interest.
