<h1>Indian Bank Notes Import Duty Exemption Issued and Rescinded in 1997 Under Customs Act.</h1> The Central Government, exercising its powers under the Customs Act, 1962, issued Notification No. 4/97-Cus on January 17, 1997, exempting printed Indian bank notes imported by the Reserve Bank of India from all customs duties. This exemption applies to bank notes classified under heading No. 49.07 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. The notification was later rescinded by Notification No. 21/97-Cus on March 1, 1997.
