of <h1>Govt Amends Customs Notification to Exempt New Textile Machinery from Duties: Includes Detwisters, Calendering Machines, Looms</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 11/97-Customs, initially issued on March 1, 1997, under the Customs Act, 1962, to include additional textile machinery and equipment in the list of exempted items. The amendment, detailed in Notification No. 59/97-Cus dated July 8, 1997, adds new items such as auto fabric detwisters, weft straightening and calendering machines, and shuttleless looms, among others, to List 10 of the original notification. This amendment aims to facilitate the importation of advanced textile machinery by exempting them from certain customs duties, promoting public interest.
