of <h1>Government Amends Import Rules: Certificate Required for Airport Equipment Exemption, Signed by AAI Chairman & Joint Secretary</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 11/97-Customs, dated March 1, 1997, concerning imports by the Airports Authority of India. As per the amendment, a new condition has been introduced, requiring importers to present a certificate from the Chairman of the Airports Authority of India. This certificate must be countersigned by an officer of at least the rank of Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation. It should confirm that the imported navigational communication, air-traffic control, and landing equipment, along with maintenance spares, are essential for airport modernization, thereby justifying the exemption.
