of <h1>Central Government Updates Customs Duty Rules for Baggage Imports; Revises Transfer of Residence Conditions Under Customs Act, 1962.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 137/90-Customs concerning the effective rate of basic duty on specified goods imported as baggage. The amendments update references from the 'Baggage Rules, 1994' to the 'Baggage Rules, 1998' in several conditions. Additionally, the condition for individuals transferring their residence to India now specifies that they must not have availed of this concession in the preceding three years, instead of requiring a minimum stay of one year. These changes are made under the authority of the Customs Act, 1962, in the interest of public welfare.
