of <h1>Central Government Amends EPCG Scheme to Include Engineering Sector; Updates Notification No. 29/97-Cus, Effective October 1998</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 29/97-Cus under the EPCG scheme, effective from October 9, 1998, to include the engineering sector alongside poultry, sericulture, and bio-tech sectors. This amendment modifies conditions in paragraph 2 of the original notification, adding the engineering sector to specified provisions. Additionally, a new clause defines 'product' for the engineering sector, listing items such as machine tools, automotive components, bicycle parts, hand tools, castings, pumps, fasteners, bright bars, and scientific instruments. These changes are enacted under the Customs Act, 1962, in the public interest.
