<h1>Govt Issues New Rule Allowing Duty-Free Transfer of Certain Goods to Warehouses u/r 20, Effective Sept. 6th.</h1> The Central Government, under rule 20 of the Central Excise Rules, 2002, has issued Notification No. 17/2004-CE(N.T.) dated 4th September 2004, superseding Notification No. 47/2001-CE(N.T.). This notification allows the removal of specified excisable goods from the factory to a warehouse, or between warehouses, without duty payment. The goods include benzene, toluene, xylene, propylene, tertiary amyl methylene ether, cigarettes, aerated waters, prepared foods, aluminum foil covers, stainless steel cutlery, butter, cheese, and bunker fuels for ships. This notification takes effect on 6th September 2004.
