Concessional Import Duty Now Covers Key Steel Manufacturing Materials Under Amended Notification No. 91/98-Cus
The Central Government has amended Notification No. 12/97-Cus, dated March 1, 1997, under the Customs Act, 1962, and the Finance Act, 1996, to include certain materials used in steel manufacturing. This amendment, Notification No. 91/98-Cus dated November 20, 1998, adds a new entry (14A) to the existing notification. It specifies that limestone, coking and non-coking coal, metallurgical coke, ferro-nickel, charge nickel/nickel oxide, and graphite electrodes are subject to concessional import duty. Importers must adhere to the Customs (Import of Goods at Concessional Rate of Duty for Manufacture of Excisable Goods) Rules, 1996.
