of <h1>Customs Duty Exemption for Subbed Polyester Base Used in X-ray and Graphic Art Films Now in Effect</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 56/98-Customs, dated August 1, 1998, to exempt subbed polyester base used in the manufacture of medical or industrial X-ray films and graphic art films from the Special Additional Duty of Customs. This amendment, issued under the powers conferred by section 3A of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, is deemed necessary in the public interest. The new entry, labeled as '5A,' specifies that subbed polyester base falling under heading No. 39.20 is now exempt from this duty, effective from November 27, 1998.
