of <h1>Govt amends Customs notification; replaces 'Chief Commissioner' with 'Commissioner' under section 25(1) of Customs Act, 1962. Effective April 1, 2003.</h1> The Central Government has amended notification No. 82/2002-Customs, dated August 13, 2002, under the powers granted by section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962. Effective April 1, 2003, the amendment replaces the term 'Chief Commissioner' with 'Commissioner' in condition (ii) of the original notification. This change is deemed necessary in the public interest. The amendment was issued by the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) and formalized by the Under Secretary to the Government of India.
