Customs Act Amendment: New Loading and Unloading Regulations for Karwar Port Under Section 7
The Central Government has amended Notification No. 76-Customs, dated May 18, 1973, under the powers granted by section 7 of the Customs Act, 1962. This amendment, specified in Notification No. 47/90-Cus (N.T.) dated August 9, 1990, pertains to the Port of Karwar, including Sadashivagad. The amendment revises the purposes for which the port can be used: it now allows for the loading of iron and manganese ore, fish products, industrial materials, explosives, timber, granite, bauxite, limestone, alumina, and molasses, and for the unloading of fertilizer, food grains, rock phosphate, timber, metal scrap, ships for breaking, and crew baggage.
