Customs port designation: a port authorized to permit unloading for ship breaking and crew baggage under the Customs Act. The Central Government, exercising its statutory appointment power under clause (a) of section 7 of the Customs Act, designates the port to be a customs port for the purpose of unloading of ships for ship breaking and for handling crew baggage, thereby subjecting those unloading activities to customs control.
