<h1>Central Government Updates Exchange Rates for Customs and Stamp Duty under Indian Stamp Act and Customs Act</h1> Notification No. 49/93-Cus. (N.T.), dated September 27, 1993, issued by the Central Government, specifies the exchange rates for calculating stamp duty under the Indian Stamp Act, 1899, and for determining the value of imported goods under section 14 of the Customs Act, 1962. Effective from October 1, 1993, the notification lists the exchange rates for various foreign currencies against the Indian Rupee. For example, the rate for one U.S. Dollar is 31.55 INR, while 100 Japanese Yen equates to 29.79 INR. This notification supersedes the previous notification No. 42/93-Customs (N.T.).
