of <h1>Customs and Excise Duties Drawback Rules Amended: Claim Filing Period Extended Under Rule 13 and Rule 18 Changes</h1> The Central Government has amended the Customs and Central Excise Duties Drawback Rules, 1995, under the powers of the Customs Act, 1962, and the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944. The amendments, effective upon publication in the Official Gazette, modify rule 13 to allow the extension of the claim filing period by three months by the Assistant Commissioner of Customs and by nine months by the Commissioner of Customs, if justified. Additionally, rule 18 is amended to extend the deadline for filing claims to on or before June 30, 1996.
