(N.T.), dated April 23, 1999, issued by the Central Government, supersedes Notification No. 21/99-Cus. (N.T.) from March 24, 1999. It prescribes exchange rates for calculating stamp duty under the Indian Stamp Act, 1899, and for determining values related to imported goods under the Customs Act, 1962. Effective May 1, 1999, the notification lists exchange rates for various foreign currencies in relation to Indian rupees. Schedule I specifies rates for single units of currencies like the U.S. Dollar at 43.00 INR, while Schedule II provides rates for 100 units of currencies like Japanese Yen at 35.80 INR.
