of <h1>Central Govt Issues Notification on Exchange Rates for Customs and Stamp Duty Under Section 14 of the Customs Act</h1> Notification No. 48/99-Cus. (N.T.), dated August 26, 1999, issued by the Central Government, supersedes Notification No. 45/99-Cus. (N.T.) and prescribes exchange rates for calculating stamp duty under the Indian Stamp Act, 1899, and for determining the value of imported goods under section 14 of the Customs Act, 1962. Effective from August 1, 1999, the notification specifies exchange rates for various foreign currencies against the Indian rupee. Schedule-I lists exchange rates for single units of currencies like the U.S. Dollar and Euro, while Schedule-II provides rates for 100 units of currencies like Belgian Francs and Japanese Yen.
