of <h1>Central Government Updates Exchange Rates for Imported Goods Under Customs Act; Effective November 20, 1997.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 54/97-Cus. (N.T.) regarding exchange rates for imported goods, effective from November 20, 1997. The amendments involve changes to the exchange rates for certain foreign currencies as follows: Deutsche Mark at 21.78 INR, French Franc at 6.50 INR, Pound Sterling at 63.81 INR, Swiss Franc at 26.86 INR, and U.S. Dollar at 37.41 INR. These adjustments are made under the authority of the Indian Stamp Act, 1899, and the Customs Act, 1962.
