of <h1>Central Government Updates Exchange Rates for Stamp Duty and Customs Purposes Under Indian Stamp Act and Customs Act</h1> Notification No. 62/97-Cus. (N.T.), dated November 27, 1997, issued by the Central Government, supersedes the previous Notification No. 54/97-Cus. (N.T.). It prescribes the exchange rates for converting foreign currencies into Indian rupees for calculating stamp duty under the Indian Stamp Act, 1899, and for purposes related to imported goods under the Customs Act, 1962. Effective November 28, 1997, the notification lists specific exchange rates for various currencies including the U.S. Dollar, Pound Sterling, and others, detailed in Schedule I and Schedule II attached to the notification.
