<h1>Central Government exempts gold, silver articles, and precious stones from excise duty under Section 3, effective Feb 28, 1986.</h1> Notification No. 53/86-C.E., dated February 10, 1986, issued by the Central Government, exempts certain goods from excise duty under Section 3 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944. The exempted items, as listed in the Schedule, include ornaments and articles made of gold or silver, whether set with stones, gems, or pearls, as well as precious and semi-precious stones, synthetic stones, pearls, articles of silver, and silver strips, wires, sheets, plates, and foils. This exemption takes effect on February 28, 1986.
