<h1>Government exempts spectacle lenses, artificial limbs, and more from excess excise duty per Notification No. 71/86-C.E.</h1> The Central Government, exercising its authority under the Central Excise Rules, 1944, has issued Notification No. 71/86-C.E. dated February 10, 1986, exempting certain excisable goods from excess excise duty as per the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944. The exempted items include spectacle lenses, drawing instruments, artificial limbs, specific cinematograph projectors, parts of cinematograph projectors (excluding certain components), and precision balances with a sensitivity of 5 mg or better. These exemptions apply to goods specified under the relevant chapter headings of the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985, effective from February 28, 1986.
