of <h1>Government Exempts Sugar, Tobacco, Woollen Fabrics from Additional Excise Duty per Notification No. 77/86-C.E.</h1> The Central Government, utilizing its authority under the Central Excise Rules, 1944, and the Additional Duties of Excise (Goods of Special Importance) Act, 1957, has issued Notification No. 77/86-C.E. dated February 10, 1986. This notification exempts all varieties of sugar, tobacco, and woollen fabrics under Chapter 51 of the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985, from additional excise duty. These items are already wholly exempt from the excise duty under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944. The notification takes effect on February 28, 1986.
