Under Rule 57A, Modifies Text on Special Duty of Excise</h1> Goods are notified for credit of duty under Modvat as per Notification No. 290/86-C.E., dated May 8, 1986. The Central Government, exercising powers under rule 57A of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, amends the earlier notification No. 177/86-Central Excise, dated March 1, 1986. The amendment involves inserting the words, brackets, and figures 'the Finance Act, 1984 (21 of 1984), and' in clause (ii) of the opening paragraph of the said notification. This change relates to the special duty of excise.
