of <h1>Carbon Dioxide Exempt from Excise Duty Under Notification No. 417/86-C.E. for Small Scale Bottling Plants</h1> The Central Government issued Notification No. 417/86-C.E. on September 15, 1986, exempting carbonic acid (carbon dioxide) not conforming to I.S. Specification No. 307-1966 from excise duty, under certain conditions. This exemption applies to carbon dioxide produced in factories or distilleries and used in bottling plants for manufacturing liquid or solid carbon dioxide that meets I.S. Specification No. 307-1966. The exemption is valid only for bottling plants registered as small scale industries under the Industries (Development and Regulations) Act, 1951. Compliance with Chapter X of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, is required.
