of <h1>Excise Duty on Cotton Fabrics Reduced from 50% to 25% Under Central Excise Rules, 1944 Amendment</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 58/87-Central Excises, dated March 1, 1987, regarding cotton fabrics. This amendment, effective from April 10, 1987, changes the excise duty rate specified in the table annexed to the original notification. Specifically, in serial number 02, column (3), the excise duty rate is reduced from 'Fifty per cent' to 'Twenty-five per cent.' This amendment is made under the authority of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, and the Additional Duties of Excise (Goods of Special Importance) Act, 1957.
