of <h1>Government Amends Excise Notification: Clarifies 'Catalysts' to Include Metal Compounds and Platinum Ingots Under Rule 8(1)</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 38/87-Central Excises, originally issued on March 1, 1987, under the authority of rule 8(1) of the Central Excise Rules, 1944. The amendment revises the explanation within the notification to clarify that 'catalysts' include compounds of metals used in their creation. Additionally, for platinum, 'catalysts' now also encompass platinum ingots. This change is formalized in Notification No. 170/87-C.E., dated June 17, 1987, by the Ministry of Finance's Department of Revenue.
