of <h1>Exemption on Excise Duty for Goods Manufactured in Prisons Valid from September 1987 to August 1988</h1> Notification No. 199/87-C.E., dated August 28, 1987, issued by the Central Government, exempts all excisable goods manufactured in prisons from the entire duty of excise as specified in the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985. The term 'prison' includes any jail or place used for detaining prisoners, subsidiary jails, reformatories, Borstal institutions, or similar institutions, as declared by a State Government. This exemption is effective from September 1, 1987, and remains valid until August 31, 1988.
