of <h1>Central Government Amends Excise Rates for Paper and Paperboard Under 1944 Rules, Introducing Tiered Pricing Structure</h1> The Central Government, under the Central Excise Rules, 1944, has amended the notification from March 1, 1986, regarding the effective rates of duty for paper and paperboard. The revised rates are structured based on quantity: Rs. 300 per tonne for the first 3000 tonnes, Rs. 650 per tonne for the next 4500 tonnes, Rs. 1000 per tonne for the subsequent 4500 tonnes, Rs. 1200 per tonne for the following 4500 tonnes, and Rs. 1500 per tonne for the next 7500 tonnes. These rates apply to successive clearances as specified in the notification.
