of <h1>Excise Duty on Color TVs Over Rs. 5,000 Increased; Exemption for Hand-Made Switches, Plugs, Sockets Withdrawn. Rule 8(1) Applied.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 68/86-C.E. regarding excise duty rates. The effective excise duty on color TV sets valued over Rs. 5,000 has been revised from Rs. 1,750 to Rs. 2,000 per set. Additionally, the exemption previously granted for switches, plugs, and sockets manufactured using hand-operated machines has been withdrawn. These changes are made under the authority of sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excises Rules, 1944, as detailed in Notification No. 122/88-C.E. dated March 1, 1988.
