<h1>New Exchange Rates for Stamp Duty and Imports Set Under Indian Stamp Act & Customs Act Section 14</h1> This notification, issued by the Central Government, establishes the exchange rates for calculating stamp duty under the Indian Stamp Act, 1899, and for purposes related to imported goods under Section 14 of the Customs Act, 1962. Effective from April 18, 2000, the specified foreign currencies are converted into Indian Rupees at the rates listed in Schedules I and II. For instance, the exchange rate for one US Dollar is set at 43.80 Indian Rupees, while 100 Japanese Yen is equivalent to 41.00 Indian Rupees. This supersedes the previous notification dated February 24, 2000.
