<h1>Central Government amends Excise Rules to define 'chindies' as side trimmings not over 6 cm wide under Rule 8.</h1> The Central Government, exercising its powers under Rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, has amended Notification No. 63/87-Central Excises dated March 1, 1987. The amendment, issued as Notification No. 157/88-C.E. on May 2, 1988, revises the explanation related to S. No. 12 of the notification's table. The term 'chindies' is now defined as side trimmings of coated width not exceeding 6 centimeters.
