of <h1>Government Exempts Tyre-Bead-Wire-Rings from Excise Duty Under Rule 8(1) for Cycle and Cycle-Rickshaw Manufacturing</h1> The Central Government, exercising powers under rule 8(1) of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, has issued Notification No. 169/88-C.E. dated May 13, 1988, exempting tyre-bead-wire-rings from excise duty. These items, classified under Chapter 73 of the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985, are intended for use in manufacturing tyres for cycles and cycle-rickshaws. The exemption applies to the entire duty of excise specified in the Schedule.
