of <h1>New Notification Exempts Certain Copper Products from Excise Duty Over Specified Rates per Central Excise Rules, 1944</h1> The Central Government, under the Central Excise Rules, 1944, has issued Notification No. 176/88-C.E. dated May 13, 1988, which supersedes the previous notification No. 96/88 dated March 1, 1988. This notification exempts certain copper products from excise duty in excess of specified rates. The exempted goods include copper mattes, unrefined copper, refined copper, copper alloys, copper waste and scrap, master alloys, copper bars, rods, profiles, plates, sheets, strips, and foils. The specified duty rates range from Rs. 3,300 to Rs. 7,000 per tonne, depending on the product category.
