Exempts Copper Coated Steel Strips from Excise Duty Above Rs. 1,500/Tonne under Section 5A.</h1> The Central Government, under the authority of section 5A of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, has issued Notification No. 232/88-C.E. dated July 15, 1988. This notification grants an exemption for copper coated steel strips classified under sub-heading No. 7212.90 of the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985. The exemption reduces the excise duty to an amount exceeding Rs. 1,500 per tonne, aiming to serve the public interest by lowering the financial burden associated with these materials.
