of <h1>Roasted Chicory Exempted from Excise Duty Under Section 5A of Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944</h1> The Central Government, under the authority of section 5A of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, has issued a notification exempting roasted chicory from the excise duty specified under sub-heading No. 2101.30 of the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985. This exemption is deemed necessary in the public interest and removes the entire duty of excise previously applicable to roasted chicory as per the relevant tariff schedule.
