Amendment to Excise Tariff: Monochrome TVs (15-36 cm) with Clock/Radio Now Excise Duty Exempt Under Notification 68/86-C.E.
The Central Government has amended Notification No. 68/86-C.E., dated February 10, 1986, under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944. This amendment, effective from November 16, 1988, concerns the excise tariff for broadcast television receiver sets (monochrome) with screen sizes exceeding 15 centimeters but not exceeding 36 centimeters. The amendment specifies that these television sets, when combined with a clock or a radio (including transistor sets) with or without a clock, will now be exempt from excise duty.
