of <h1>Amendment Excludes Half-Inch Video Tapes from Notification No. 187/88-C.E. Under Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 187/88-C.E., dated May 13, 1988, under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, through Notification No. 286/88-C.E., dated November 28, 1988. The amendment introduces a proviso stating that the notification does not apply to video cassettes containing half-inch width video tapes classified under sub-heading Nos. 8523.14 or 8524.24. These video tapes must have been manufactured in a factory and cleared for home consumption on or after October 14, 1988, to be exempt from the notification.
