<h1>Potassium Metal and Amide Exempt from Excise Duty When Used in Heavy Water Production Under Notification No. 4/89-C.E.</h1> Notification No. 4/89-C.E., dated January 30, 1989, issued under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, exempts potassium metal and potassium amide from excise duty. These substances, classified under Chapter 28 of the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985, are exempted when consumed within the factory of production for manufacturing heavy water. The exemption is granted as the Central Government deems it necessary in the public interest.
