of <h1>Govt Exempts Specific Goods from Excess Excise Duty Under Notification No. 14/89-C.E., Effective March 1, 1989</h1> The Central Government, under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, has issued Notification No. 14/89-C.E. dated March 1, 1989, to exempt certain goods from excess excise duty. The goods specified include those under sub-headings 1701.31, 1701.39, 1703.10, and 1704.90 of the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985. The effective rates of excise duties are set at Rs. 17 per quintal for sub-heading 1701.31, Rs. 24 per quintal for 1701.39, Rs. 120 per tonne for 1703.10, and 10% ad valorem for 1704.90.
