of <h1>Central Government Updates Duty Rates for Tread Rubber by Small Units; Amends Notification No. 56/88-Central Excises</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 56/88-Central Excises, dated March 1, 1988, regarding the effective rates of duty on tread rubber manufactured by small units. The amendments, effective March 1, 1989, involve changes in the duty rates: clause (a) changes from 'rupees five' to 'rupees five and paise twenty five,' clause (b) from 'rupees seven' to 'rupees seven and paise thirty five,' and clause (c) from 'rupees eleven' to 'rupees eleven and paise fifty five.' Additionally, an insertion is made in Explanation II concerning the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944.
