1989 Notification: Excise Duty Exemption on Specific Copper Goods Under Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944

The notification dated March 1, 1989, issued by the Central Government under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, exempts certain copper goods from excise duty exceeding specified rates. The exempted items include copper mattes, unrefined copper, refined copper in various forms, copper alloys, copper waste and scrap, master alloys, bars, rods, profiles, wire, plates, sheets, strips, and foil. The rates vary based on the type and form of the copper products, ranging from Rs. 3465 to Rs. 7350 per tonne, as detailed in the annexed table. This supersedes a previous notification from May 13, 1988.
