of <h1>New Excise Duty Rates for Manual Typewriters Announced Under Section 5A of Central Excises Act 1944</h1> Notification No. 74/89-C.E., dated March 1, 1989, issued by the Central Government under section 5A of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, amends the previous notification No. 155/86-Central Excises. It revises the effective rates of duty on manual typewriters based on carriage size. The new rates are as follows: Rs. 315 for typewriters with a carriage size not exceeding 25 cm and weight not exceeding 7 kg, Rs. 735 for sizes between 25 cm and 30 cm, Rs. 840 for sizes between 30 cm and 40 cm, Rs. 1050 for sizes between 40 cm and 55 cm, and Rs. 1470 for others.
