of <h1>Govt amends duty on automotive gas compressors from Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 2,625 per unit under Central Excises Act.</h1> The Central Government, under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, has amended the previous notification No. 135/87 dated May 8, 1987, regarding the duty on automotive gas compressors. The amendment changes the effective rate of duty from 'Rs. 2,500 per compressor' to 'Rs. 2,625 per compressor.' This adjustment is made in the public interest and is detailed in Notification No. 76/89-C.E. dated March 1, 1989, issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue.
