<h1>Government Exempts Coffee, Tea, Oils, Sugar, Kerosene, Matches, and Cotton Fabrics from Special Excise Duty Under Notification No. 129/89-C.E.</h1> The Central Government, utilizing its authority under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, and the Finance Act, 1989, has issued Notification No. 129/89-C.E., dated May 12, 1989, to exempt certain specified goods from the special excise duty. This supersedes a previous notification from March 1, 1989. The exempted goods include coffee, tea, fixed vegetable oils, vegetable fats and oils, cane or beet sugar, kerosene, matches, and cotton fabrics, as detailed in the annexed table with their respective heading or sub-heading numbers from the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985.
