of <h1>Central Government Grants Partial Excise Duty Exemption on Fireworks Under Section 5A, Effective September 18, 1989.</h1> The Central Government has issued a notification granting a partial exemption from excise duty on fireworks classified under sub-heading No. 3604.10 of the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985. This exemption reduces the excise duty to 10% ad valorem, as specified in the schedule, under the authority of section 5A of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944. The decision is made in the public interest, effective from September 18, 1989, as per Notification No. 179/89-C.E.
