of <h1>Amendment Lowers Tariff Rate from Rs. 2.55 to Rs. 2.00 Under Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944</h1> The Central Government has issued an amendment to Notification No. 64/87-C.E., dated March 1, 1987, under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, and the Additional Duties of Excise (Goods of Special Importance) Act, 1957. This amendment, effective from May 16, 1990, changes the tariff rate specified in the notification. Specifically, in the table annexed to the original notification, the tariff rate at Sl. No. 1, column (3), is revised from 'Rs. 2.55' to 'Rs. 2.00' in the interest of public welfare.
