<h1>Maplitho and Kraft Paper Exempt from Excise Duty When Supplied to Braille Press per Notification No. 140/90-C.E.</h1> The Central Government, under the authority of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, has issued a notification exempting maplitho paper and kraft paper, classified under Chapter 48 of the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985, from excise duty. This exemption applies only when these papers are supplied to a braille press, based on an order from the National Institute for Visually Handicapped, Dehradun. This decision was made in the public interest as of September 17, 1990, according to Notification No. 140/90-C.E.
