of <h1>Central Government Amends Notification 214/86-C.E. to Expand Exemptions for Certain Plastic Bags and Sacks</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 214/86-C.E. under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, to include additional exemptions in the public interest. The amendments involve changes to Explanation II of the original notification. Specifically, the word 'or' is omitted from clause (iii), the word 'gases' in clause (iv) is replaced with 'gases; or,' and a new clause (v) is added. Clause (v) specifies that bags or sacks made from fabric woven from strips or tapes of plastics, whether coated or laminated, are included in the exemptions.
